Barrier Science

The Challenge

● Most bio-plastics have high oxygen permeability.

The Meiji Solution

● We use High-Barrier NK (Cellulose) or ALOX (Aluminum Oxide) coated bio-films to create a shield against moisture and oxygen.

Structure Table

● Dry Food: Kraft Paper / PLA (Great for short-term shelf life, 6 months).
● High-Aroma (Coffee/Tea): Kraft Paper / ALOX / PLA (Excellent barrier, 12+ months shelf life).
● Apparel/Non-food: PLA / PBAT (Maximum flexibility and transparency).

Meiji Advantage

● Because we co-extrude our own bio-sealant layers, we can ensure the bag doesn't "delaminate" or leak at the bottom seal—a common failure in cheaper compostable pouches.

FAQ

What is the difference between "Degradable" and "Compostable"?
"Degradable" often refers to oxo-plastics that break into microplastics. Our Compostable bags break down into water, CO2, and nutrient-rich biomass, leaving zero harmful residue.
How should I store these bags before filling?
Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. When stored correctly, they have a shelf life of up to 12 months before the degradation properties are affected.
Can these bags be recycled with regular plastic?
No. These should be disposed of in organic waste bins or industrial composting facilities. We recommend printing disposal instructions on the back of your pouch.
