Eco-Friendly Biodegradable & Compostable Packaging Film

Plant-Based Materials | Home & Industrial Compostable | Zero Microplastics

Protect your product and the planet. As global plastic regulations tighten, Meiji Packaging offers high-performance biodegradable films derived from renewable resources (like corn starch and PLA). Unlike traditional plastics that persist for centuries, our films break down into water, CO2, and biomass in composting environments. We combine sustainability with durability, ensuring your eco-friendly packaging doesn't compromise on shelf life or seal integrity.

Certifications: TUV OK Compost (Home/Industrial), BPI Certified, EN 13432.
Material Base: PLA (Polylactic Acid), PBAT, Cellulose, or Kraft Paper laminates.
Degradation Timeline: 90–180 days in composting conditions.
MOQ: 500kg for rollstock / 10,000 pcs for pre-made bags.

Sustainability & Science

End-of-Life Options

● Industrial Compostable: Breaks down in municipal composting facilities at elevated temperatures.
● Home Compostable: Specifically formulated to degrade in backyard compost bins at ambient temperatures.

Bio-Based Content

● Made from annually renewable plant resources, reducing the carbon footprint by up to 60% compared to traditional films.

The Meiji Edge

● Controlled Formula: Biodegradable resins can be brittle. We utilize our in-house film blowing expertise to blend PLA with flexible biopolymers (like PBAT), ensuring the film has the "stretch" and "toughness" required for real-world shipping and handling.

Material Structure & Barrier

Structure Table

● Clear High-Clarity: PLA / PLA (Excellent for fresh produce and snacks with short shelf life).
● High Barrier (Opaque): Kraft Paper / NK (Cellulose) / PBS (Excellent moisture and oxygen barrier for coffee/dry foods).
● Soft-Touch Matte: Matte PLA / PBAT (Premium feel for apparel and cosmetics).

Performance Comparison

● Our compostable structures are engineered to provide Oxygen and Moisture barriers that rival standard plastic laminates, ensuring your product stays fresh without the environmental guilt.

Why Choose Meiji's Sustainable Solutions?

1.png

Vertical Integration

Many suppliers simply buy bio-bags from others. At Meiji, we blow the biodegradable film ourselves. This allows us to adjust the film's thickness and degradation rate to meet your specific needs, ensuring the material is strong enough for your packaging machines but compliant with environmental standards.

2.png

Certified Compliance

We understand the "Greenwashing" risk. All our biodegradable materials are sourced from certified resin suppliers and are tested to meet international standards (EN 13432, ASTM D6400), giving your brand the credibility it deserves in the global market.

3

Customization

We engineer pouches to your exact specs. Choose custom dimensions, high-barrier laminations (AL/EVOH), premium 10-color printing, and functional add-ons like resealable zippers or liquid spouts.

4

Global Compliance & Sustainability

Trusted globally. Our BRCGS and ISO 9001 certified facility guarantees FDA/EU food-contact compliance. Meet your ESG goals with our TUV-certified compostable or 100% recyclable mono-PE options.

FAQ

Will biodegradable bags melt on my shelf?
No. Our films are stable under normal warehouse conditions. They require the specific combination of heat, moisture, and microorganisms found in a composting environment to begin the degradation process.
Can I print my logo on these eco-friendly bags?
Yes. We use Soy-based or Water-based inks for our biodegradable range to ensure the entire package remains compostable and non-toxic.
How long is the shelf life of the empty bags?
We recommend using the bags within 10–12 months of production and storing them in a cool, dry place away from direct UV light to maintain optimal strength.
Is it more expensive than regular plastic?
Bio-resins currently carry a premium over petroleum-based plastics. However, as a direct manufacturer, we optimize the material thickness to provide the most cost-effective "green" solution for your brand.
