Meiji Packaging's Easy Tear Film is engineered to tear in a straight line with minimal force, preventing spills and messy openings. Unlike standard films that stretch or tear randomly, we utilize a proprietary PE/CPP resin formulation in our co-extruded sealant layer. This creates a directional tear property directly within the material structure—eliminating the need for expensive laser scoring while maintaining robust seal integrity.


Tear Direction: Machine Direction (MD) or Transverse Direction (TD).
Tear Force: Low initiation force (< 3N) for easy access.

How It Works

Linear Tear

● Standard plastic films often stretch or tear diagonally when opened. Our Easy Tear Film guides the tear propagation in a perfectly straight line across the package.
● Benefit: Prevents liquid (sauce/shampoo) from splashing and keeps the powder (coffee/medicine) contained until poured.

Material-Based vs. Mechanical

● Meiji's Approach: We modify the polymer structure of the inner sealant film PE during the blowing process.
● Advantage: This is more cost-effective than "Laser Scoring" (burning a line on the bag) and maintains the full barrier properties of the film since the surface is not physically cut.

● Best for: Ketchup, Mayonnaise, Pharmaceutical powders. Provides 100% barrier with instant accessibility.


Transparent & Tough

● BOPA (Nylon) / Easy-Tear PE
● Best for: Medical devices, Sausages, Cheese. Nylon is usually hard to tear; our specialized PE layer acts as the "guide" to slice through the tough Nylon.


Stick Pack Film

● PET / VMPET / Easy-Tear PE
● Best for: Instant coffee, Sugar, Probiotics. Designed for high-speed multi-lane VFFS packing machines.

FAQ

What is the difference between "Easy Tear" and "Easy Peel"?∨
Easy Peel (often used in lidding films) means the cover separates cleanly from the tray.
Easy Tear means the film itself rips apart easily in a specific direction. It is used for sachets and stick packs where you need to break the package material.
Does "Easy Tear" mean the package is weak?∨
No. The film retains excellent tensile strength and bursts resistance against impact. The "weakness" is directional and only activates when a shearing force (tearing motion) is applied at the edge.
Do I need a notch (V-cut) for this film?∨
While a tear notch helps indicate where to tear, our Easy Tear Film reduces the effort needed to start the tear significantly, making the notch work perfectly every time without stretching the plastic.
Can you print on Easy Tear film?∨
Yes, we offer high-definition rotogravure printing (up to 9 colors) on the outer layer (PET or Paper), which does not affect the easy-tear performance of the inner sealant layer.
